Personally...this initiative was very timely and beneficial for me as a Guyanese Female Entrepreneur. As we live in a culture where everyone tells you what you need to do but no one takes the time to teach or train you or even understand the challenges you face. CCIC has provided the needed support and directions to participants like myself which has enabled me with the necessary know-how's, business practices, and business ethics towards making my business sustainable in a climatically changing environment. Thank you once again CCIC and the fantastic team for sharing your knowledge and vast experiences which has undoubtedly empowered me.
Winning the World Bank funded CCIC grant to provide solar lanterns and charging infrastructure on the Pedro Banks opened up new opportunities for New Leaf Power. We have become the go to company in the event of natural disasters in the region and our solar lanterns have been deployed in the aftermath of a Hurricane in Dominica. Requests are coming in after the passage of Irma through the Caribbean. Climate action advocacy has never been more important and CCIC has helped to put us in the forefront of thought leadership and action in the region. We are therefore grateful for the support provided by the local and international Climate Innovation Center (CIC) teams. It is possible to do well by doing good.
